The Next Generation of Learning Technique Has Arrived – Is Your Organization Prepared?
Defining the Virtual Experience
There are iterations of the Virtual Experience that date as far back as the early 1800’s. However, it wasn’t until 1957 that Morton Heilig created the Sensorama, which is the earliest known example of a refined product in multi-sensory technology.
Fast forward 60-years, and we are living the Virtual Experience in almost everything we do: Shopping, Dining, Entertainment, and most importantly, Learning.
It is evident that virtual learning, also known as e-Learning, is no longer a thing of the future, but a thing of the now. There are numbers to back this up. According to a 2018 Forbes article, “Market research firm Global Industry Analysts projected “E Learning” would reach $107 Billion in 2015 and it did. Now, Research and Markets forecasts show triple the revenue of 2015 – e-learning will grow to $325 Billion by 2025.”
Is your organization appropriately prepared to join the virtual revolution? Sure, you have computers, technology and great presenters within your organization – but when it comes to addressing your teams virtually, are you culturally prepared to do so?
If not, you should be.
Here are a few quick tips on effectively communicating virtually:
- Use Proper Lighting
- Place the Camera at Eye Level
- Frame Yourself Properly
- Be Aware of Your Background
- Limit Extraneous Noise
By nature, virtual communication has the potential to be deployed quickly and reactively so that teams can be engaged and addressed when needed most. Currently, this is unfortunately the case in so many organizations when there is a global pandemic.
Be sure to engage communications experts that you trust for guidance during these times so that you can appropriately establish the Virtual Experience within your organization. This will ensure that your intention is motivating adoptable action.
